Dear Jr. Zee Bees Family:
The Zion Benton Youth Football League values fairness, respect and tolerance for all of its members and fellow programs. In respect of the Yum Kippur Holiday observance this Friday and Saturday our homecoming schedule has been adjusted to accommodate for some of our families to observe this meaningful holiday.
What is Yum Kippur you ask? Yum Kippur is known as the Day of Atonement and is observed by a complete Sabbath; which means that no work can be performed on that day. Observers are supposed to refrain from eating and drinking (even water) on Yom Kippur. It is a complete, 25-hour fast beginning before sunset on the evening before Yom Kippur and ending after nightfall on the day of Yom Kippur. More Yum Kippur information can be found at http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday4.htm. A Christian parallel may be found in Leviticus 16, more specifically Lev 16:29-30.
For the safety of some of our players, coaches, and extended football families and in the spirit of fair competition the schedule has been set as follows:
Saturday, Oct 4th at Zion Benton Township High School
PAC 10 Bantam @ 12:00 PM
PAC 10 Featherweight @ 1:30 PM
PAC 10 Middleweight @ 3:00 PM
BIG 10 Middleweight @ 4:30 PM
BIG 10 Lightweight @ 6:00 PM
BIG 10 Varsity @ 7:30 PM
Sunday, Oct 5th at Jr. Zee Bees Field on 23rd Street
BIG 10 Featherweight @ 9:00 AM
BIG 10 Bantam @ 10:30 AM
